Questions

Is it legal to print my own checks?

Yes. Businesses print their own checks all the time, as long as you are authorized on the account. What matters is that the MICR line, the routing number and the check size follow the bank standards, which the tool handles for you.

Do I need magnetic MICR ink?

Most checks are now cleared as images, but many banks still recommend MICR toner because a poorly printed line causes read errors. Start with MICR toner, or ask your bank to test a check printed with regular toner. MICR printing guide.

Are my bank details stored?

No. The check is generated in your browser and never uploaded. Your business and bank details are saved only on this device, and only if you tick “Remember”.

Do you mail checks or move money?

No. CheckWriter.app only prints. You sign the check and hand it over or mail it yourself. We are not a bank and never touch your funds.

What paper do I need?

Blank check stock (8.5 x 11 in, check on top, middle or bottom) from any office supplier, or the pre-printed checks you already have. How to print checks online.
